*sigh* I don't seem to be able to listen to my own advice. I just had to start another "quick" game of Book Worm. When I say "quick" ... i mean 1.5 hours. That's right, 90 minutes og playing Book Worm and amassing 315k points. I think I need an intervention or something.

Book Worm Fantasies
I seem to be suffering from a serious ailment ... tetrisitis. Anyone who has ever played Tetris knows exactly what I am talking about. The game causing this problem right now is Book Worm. I will stop playing the game and go to bed, yet I am still playing the game in my head. I see all the blocks of letters and a connect them to make words and they dissappear, yet I am no where near a computer. I think that's the first sign that I may be playing this game a bit too much.
Oh, btw I probably won't be able to get updated basement pictures posted until Sunday, but this week brough another round of dramatic changes. They won't finish completely until Monday .. no big deal. Until then faithful reader!

Sleep isn't really necessary ... is it?
Update to my Book Worm playing. I topped 200,000 points and made the rank of Archivist. Just wondering how that rates. Anybody here know the levels?
p.s. Yeah ... the timestamp for this message is right. I'm a little bit of a night owl (understatement of the year) and thought I could play a quick game of Book Worm. Well ... 1 hour later, I reach Archivist and now must go to bed before Debbie wakes up to go to work.

Peer Pressure
I have to chastise a friend of mine. First off, she coded most of the web site herself using CSS (cascading style sheets). Now, I barely have enough knowledge to make a decent web site using straight HTML and now an English major has surpassed me in Internet knowledge!! I am so ashamed ... AN ENGLISH MAJOR!!! Well, this has just convinced me that I MUST learn CSS in order to regain my geek card.
My other beef is a small, inconspicuous link at the bottom left of her home page that links to a game called Book Worm. I gave it a try just to see what it was like and now I'm addicted. In my second game, I was able to get a score around 150,000 points. Is that good? I think the title it gave me was senior librarian or something like that.

Okay ... a friend of mine, Heather posted a thought today that brought back a memory. It involved me (a man for those of you still wondering) walking into the ladies restroom. There was no one who I could see, so it wasn't obvious to me that this was the wrong restroom. The only thing I thought was: "This is odd ... a men's room with no urinal ... I mean this is a good size bathroom, surely they would have room for a urinal ... why wouldn't they install a urinal in the me ........." and that's when I realized I probably had the wrong equipment to be using this particular restroom. I was able to escape without anyone noticing, but it still was very embarrassing.
Speaking of restrooms, what's wrong with just naming them Men's and Women's. I hate going to a restaurant that has a "theme" and names the restrooms as such. I have to grab an employee and ask "Excuse me ... Am I an octopus or a squid?" Just a random thought on minutiae ... Hey!! That's the description of my blog ... Fancy that!
Talk to you later!

The Basement Finshing Project Web Page has been updated to include Week 4.
I'm not such a slacker afterall :P
I'm not such a slacker afterall :P
Ok ... I know I've promised a basement update and .... well .... I'm just lazy. Maybe I'll get to it tonight, I don't know. For some reason, I've felt very tired lately. The weather has been pretty nice up until today, so I don't think that's it. The good thing is, I do have pictures so I just need to make the web page.
I also am going to begin using a new tool called SiteCopy. What this program does is allow me to keep a copy of my entire web site on my computer. I run this program and it uploads all the updated files to the web server. I have been trying to find something like this for a while and finally got this thing working.
It's not easy to get running since it requires Cygwin to run. But, this does exactly what I need.
Hopefully, there will be a new post tonight with an updated basement web page. If not, just chalk it up to my incredible ability to procrastinate.

This is a great time of year ... THE STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS HAVE STARTED!!! There are very few sports that can compare with the excitement of playoff hockey. That being said, I'm a Red Wing fan (please hold your boos) so the last several days have not been nice. The Red Wings went up 2 games to none on the Nashville Predators, but Nashville has even the series at 2 games apiece. WHO DO THESE GUYS THINK THEY ARE. The nerve of them winning some games. I mean really! These guys are supposed to look at the Wings in awe and just be glad to have made the playoffs. Oh well, game 5 is going much better right now with the wings winning 4-1 in the 2rd period. Hopefully, the load holds and the series gets closed out on Saturday. We shall see!

Today brings an update to the Basement Finshing Project Web Page. Week 3 brought some exciting changes as the page demonstrates. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Good Friday! (is that a real statement, I'm not sure) Anyway, Easter weekend is here ... the basement is progressing along (I'll probably have the web site updated by tomorrow) ... the hole in our celing is still there ... the in-laws are in from Detroit to spend the week with us. All in all, its going to be an extremely busy time around here.
Working from home is really tough when you don't have a lot to do. These past two days have been excruciating trying to figure out what work needed to be done and how best to procrastinate on that work. So, I found some online game sites like Spades and Hearts. It's a quick diversion that I can leave if needed, but work did not provide any reason for me to leave.
I know ... rough life. Well, like I said, look for the Basement Finishing Project Page to be updated sometime this weekend with pictures of this week's progress. Some exciting stuff has happened, but I'll tell you more about that then.

*YAWN* I have been very busy lately. The hole in our ceiling leading to the attic is still there, much to my wife's chagrin. Fortunately, she does understand since there has been a lot happening. For starters, we spent the weekend in Detroit to attend the wedding of my wife's uncle. It was a lovely affair and we had a great time. Unfortunately, it was a very quick trip ... We drove in Friday night arrive at 2:00 am and had to had back home Sunday afternoon.
So, why didnt I finish the project on Monday or Tuesday? Well, I'm in the final semester of getting my master's in Telecommunication and Software Engineering and I had an exam today. So, I actually studied for this (I know ... a big shock to those of you who know me :)) The class involved calculating propagation loss in RF systems due to Reflection, Scattering, and Knife Point Diffraction. Well, since the exam was today, you must be wondering how I did.
Let me explain how I take a test ... I go through the questions answering those that I know right away and skipping those I don't. Well, by the time I reached the last page of this particular exam, I had managed to write my name. Not only that, but reading the questions made me wonder if there was some kind of drastic mistake and my exam got switched with another class. None of the terms made any sense to me like 2nd and 3rd tier co-channel cell interference, calculate the Signal to Interference ratio for a NAMPS system with path loss exponention of -4, determine the equivalent single knife point obstruction given 2 defined knife point obstructions. For those who I know read this blog, the sad thing is I had the exact same look on my face as you do right now.
I was able to pull something out of my nether region to answer it. I have no idea if any of it is correct, but at least I wrote something. I had given thought to turning in the exam with just my name and pray for sympathy points.
Well, I will have more tomorrow, but I need to vent and kill people (in an online sense of course).

Wow! I don't think I made a prediction for the championship game. Well then, let's just assume I predicted Georgia Tech and UConn. I have felt all along that UConn is the team to beat, so I'm sticking with that prediction.
On a side note, now that OK State is out, my bracket will win out over Debbie's. YEAH!!!!!! The nice thing is that no matter what the outcome of the championship game, I will place in the top 4 of my pool. UConn wins ... I place 4th. GT wins ... I place 1st. So, obivously, I'm rooting for GT.

I don't have a lot of time so this has got to be a quick update. I finished the Week 2 update page. Just go to the Basement Finshing Project Web Page to see this week's changes.

As with any good techo-geek, I wasn't real happy with the basement update page I had created. It wasn't very creative and certainly didn't seem user friendly. So, without further ado, I announce the creation of the offical Basement Finshing Project Web Page. It uses Server Side Includes to make the header and navigation bar. The normal web surfer will actually never know a difference and that is the point. I would like to have used cascading style sheets (CSS), but didn't really need it for the web page. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
