Debbie has acquired too many points

Okay .. this is getting scary. The score at our house right now is Debbie 4328254711251405 - Eddie 1. What do I mean by this? Debbie has been EXTREMELY nice to me regarding taking care of the baby. To the point where I fear I shall spend an entire year being her slave. As some of you may know, Debbie has let me sleep most nights while she takes care of Lauren. She does this because I do not function very kindly on little sleep. My usual upbeat disposition turns very sour. When I don't get a lot of sleep, my answers become very sharp and terse, attempts by other people at humor usually upset me, and other kinds of nastiness that I'm not proud of. So, she lets me sleep so that when we do talk, I'm in a better mood. Well, in addition to all of that, she let me go to a comedy show this weekend. A bunch of friends and I went to see Lewis Black at the Rosemont Theater (btw Jon Stewart will be there 4/1/05; 9:45 pm show tickets still available). I even got to go out to dinner with some friends. All the while, she's at home watching the baby. The only worthy pennace I can think of is letting her go to some kind of craft fair while I stay at home. Otherwise, I need to start work on groveling.

If you're as grumpy as you say you are when you're tired, Debbie is probasbly just going into self-preservation mode. :)

Debbie, if you're reading this, don't burn out! Make sure YOU'RE getting the rest you need too. I'd be thrilled to come over some evening and watch Lauren while you rest or read a book or take a bubble bath or just do whatever relaxing thing you want. You wouldn't have to GO anywhere if you didn't want to, but you could just rest a little and recharge your batteries.

You are so sweet!

Actually, yes, in part, letting Eddie sleep is so I have a coherent, functioning husband who can actually help me when he's home in the evening and on weekends.

I'm also lucky in that I can fall asleep in a matter of minutes if I'm really tired so getting my 6-8 hours sleep isn't difficult in a few 2-3 hour streches. Eddie, on the other hand, has always had trouble getting back-to-sleep difficulties.

I'll let you know when that extra helping hand would be most beneficial. If I remember right, you generally get off work earlier than 5. So, if it is a weekday, you could drop by after work on your way home... Just a thought. Thanks again for the offer. :)

Oh yeah...I usually get off work around 4:00. I would love to come by some day after work and take baby responsibility off your hands for a little while. You just say the word, babe, and I am so there.
