Ponderments
I've been pondering something in the past few hours and wanted to run this idea by you, my loyal reader. I have a friend who works in the gaming industry. He and another friend are currently taking classes at the Game Institute. I'm not in the gaming industry. I don't know if I'll ever work in the gaming industry. But these classes look really cool. The cost isn't prohibitive and this is something that really intrigues me. I play games that use this technology all the time. If something were to happen at my current job, I would love to move to the gaming industry as my next career. Not that this certification would guarantee my ability to switch careers, but I think this would be fun. What do you guys think?
I also realize this is not the best time to initiate such an endeavor, but it may not be that bad. The courses are self paced so I can take as little or as much time as I would like. I also know that, if I were to do this, Debbie is awesome at making sure I follow through. When I was going for my Master's degree (in Telecommunications and Software Engineering) she provided TONS of support and kept me focused so that I would reach my goal. And now, I can check that box on surveys that say "Post-graduate degree" thanks to her.

I think you should go for it. The thing is, we spend so much time working, I think it's important that we do something we enjoy. So, it seems to me that taking these classes might help you have a good escape plan should things to all wonky with your current job. Plus, by doing this ahead of time, you'll have the option of pursuing these classes and education and then maybe getting a job you like rather than being forced to take another job that you don't like as well because your current job has been swallowed by the aforementioned wonkiness and you need a steady paycheck right away. Does that make sense?
Plus, I'm a firm believer in you have to take a chance to pursue happiness rather than suffer "okayness" forever. And a happy daddy means a happier household, right? (That is not intended to be sexist. A happy mommy means a happier household as well.)
Course, the key is making sure that your wife has some time to do the things she wants to do as well, whatever those things might be : ) Perhaps just taking a nap -- given what I've heard from other new moms!
