[CTPP] CTPP 2000 Software question

I think the web-based approach makes a lot of sense.... similar to the LEHD.  Raw data file availability and someone proficient with Access or SAS or whatever will be fine for advanced users.  I do recall the 1990 CTPP software was only as good for a handful of years.

Continuing usability of CTPP 2000 software is definitely going to be an issue for some users.  By the time CTPP 2010 comes out several years from now, many users will have migrated to Windows 7.  It is an evolutionary upgrade from Windows Vista, based on the same kernel (the central component of the operating system).  For those who wish to use the CTPP 2000 software, Windows 7 Starter (for netbooks) and Windows 7 Home Premium may present similar issues as Vista, though we can expect CTPP 2010 will run fine.  (We'll have to strategize how to make sure that stays the case for Windows 8, 9, 10, etc.)  

The more expensive Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate versions will have Virtual XP available.  It is a full copy of XP that runs in its own window, in the form of a second, "virtual machine."  Virtual XP allows one to load and run any old software that will run on XP, even if it doesn't run directly on Vista or Windows 7.  I have been fooling around with the Windows 7 Release Candidate on my home computer for a few months, and can report that the Virtual XP does work, though it is a little sluggish (maybe that's because the software creating the virtual machine splits the available RAM between the two operating systems, dedicating some to each, and my 2GB isn't enough to share comfortably).  Nevertheless, it may solve the issue of backwards compatibility for many.  (For a lot of information services managers, it will present the issue of maintaining multiple operating systems and sets of software applications, which they might considered a nightmare scenario.  But that's a!
nother issue.)

Has anyone tried to load the CTPP 2000 Browser on a Windows Vista 
machine?  I just got wind that it might not work.  All my machines are

either Home XP or XP Professional and it works fine sans the normal 
crash message that you just ignore and keep going.  I am also trying to

get a handle if anyone has run into issues with the software on 32 
versus 64 bit systems.
